Giants embrace enemy territory ahead of Port clash

Road warriors Greater Western Sydney shall be feeding on a hostile Adelaide Oval swarming with Port Adelaide followers once they face off of their AFL semi-final conflict, coach Adam Kingsley says.

Kingsley is set the famed ‘orange tsunami’ will sweep up the Power and their trustworthy once they meet on Saturday, regardless of having suffered a disappointing 51-point loss to Port earlier within the 12 months.

“They’re a great club, their supporter base is passionate and loud,” Kingsley stated on Thursday.

“We’re used to that. We did a terrific job with that last week – 70,000 nearly at the ‘G (against St Kilda).

“We get pleasure from travelling and that is mirrored within the outcomes. We encourage them to embrace it.”

GWS have etched themselves into football history as the first AFL club to register wins at 11 different venues in a single season.

The Giants have also won eight of their 14 games on the road this campaign – the most of any club in the AFL.

“When we began getting these wins, it undoubtedly simply strengthened to all of us that we may be on the street, may get delayed at an airport, might need to go on a bus to Ballarat – no matter it’s, we’ll simply get it completed and get on with it,” key ahead Jake Riccardi advised AAP.

“Whether it is this 12 months, subsequent 12 months or years to come back – we’ll be travelling.”

While playing in front of big crowds at home is rare, up-and-coming Giants star Toby Bedford believes playing against a side and their faithful has steeled the playing group.

“We’re going to come back up towards some fairly massive fan bases if we maintain taking part in finals and they’ll be loud,” Bedford advised AAP.

“But we do not depend on the gang or the rest. We simply know that we’re going on the market taking part in for one another.

“That’s the most powerful thing. We’re not relying on anyone else but each other.”

Kingsley – a former Port Adelaide participant himself – is assured he may spot just a few Adelaide Crows converts within the crowd once they cross the white-line this weekend.

“I’m sure there won’t be a great call to arms needed with the Crows supporters, having known Adelaide quite well,” Kingsley stated.

“If we can get more people showing up supporting the Giants, I’m certainly all for it.”
