Demons drop ruck Grundy again for clash with Hawthorn

Brodie Grundy’s future at Melbourne has been positioned into additional doubt with the ruckman dropped for a second time.

After being recalled for final week’s defeat to Carlton following a four-game absence, the twin All-Australian has been axed for Sunday’s conflict with Hawthorn on the MCG.

Melbourne thrived with Max Gawn as their sole ruck when Grundy was out, with coach Simon Goodwin telling the previous Collingwood star to work on his ahead craft within the VFL.

But Grundy barely had an influence in opposition to the Blues and Melbourne’s attacking woes returned.

Grundy arrived at Melbourne within the low season to crew up with Gawn after Collingwood opted to dump the 29-year-old as a consequence of wage cap points.

Melbourne’s gamble with two star rucks has clearly not labored, that means Grundy will possible pursue a transfer to a 3rd membership in as many seasons for 2024.

In a blow for Hawthorn’s ambitions of inflicting one other upset, star ahead Mitch Lewis has been sidelined as a consequence of a foot damage.
