Brisbane defender Jack Payne has dedicated his long-term future to the Lions by signing a five-year contract extension.

Payne. 23, was already contracted till the top of subsequent 12 months however is now set to play for Brisbane till at the very least the completion of the 2029 season.

“I want to keep improving, and I will work with my coaches and teammates to become the best player I can.

“I feel we have the squad and structures in place to ensure we challenge for the next few years and hopefully we can win a flag during my time.”

Lions basic supervisor of soccer Danny Daly tipped Payne to construct on the great type he has proven this season for the premiership contenders.

“In the space of a few of years, Jack has gone from a promising teenager … to an impressive defender for us in the AFL,” Daly mentioned.

“Each week he is playing on some of the competition’s best forwards and has done some outstanding jobs on those guys, making him a crucial part of our defence.

The third-placed Lions depart on Friday for Perth, the place they may meet Fremantle on Sunday at Optus Stadium.
