Collingwood ahead Jack Ginnivan will play his first AFL sport of the season on Sunday after being banned in the course of the pre-season for utilizing a bootleg drug.
Ginnivan will make his AFL comeback in opposition to St Kilda at Adelaide Oval within the ultimate fixture of the Gather Round.
The 20-year-old was suspended for 2 video games by the AFL after admitting utilizing a bootleg drug throughout a Collingwood coaching camp in January.
“He will come in and play a role and we’re excited to see what he can do,” Magpies coach Craig McRae informed reporters on Friday.
“I did notice him walking up and down my hallway during the week a couple more times than what he normally does, sort of looking for a sign where’s he’s at.
“It has been a journey for him.
“This is whatever it is now, six or seven weeks, of looking for opportunity and trying to make himself a better person.
“And now he will get an opportunity to try this on the footy subject.”
Since serving his suspension, Ginnivan has played two VFL games for the Pies and McRae was particularly impressed by his efforts last weekend in a heavy away loss to Brisbane.
“”The GPS on the weekend was the thing we looked at, it was a tough performance for the VFL up in Queensland, but the GPS said he was playing at levels that we needed from him, AFL-type standard running,” McRae stated.
“And he is going to get an opportunity to go and do that now.”
While Ginnivan is a sure starter, wingman Will Hoskin-Elliott is doubtful for the conflict in opposition to the undefeated Saints as a consequence of sickness.
