AFL world in mourning after Matthew Rendell’s shock death at 64

Former AFL participant, coach, recruiter and commentator Matt Rendell died on the age of 64, his household have revealed.

The AFL world was left in shock when the 64-year-old was taken to hospital after reviews he collapsed over the weekend whereas strolling his canine after struggling a coronary heart assault.

“It is with great sadness that I am releasing this statement in regards to the condition of Matthew Rendell,” his spouse Leonie wrote.

“Matthew passed away this afternoon, after suffering a cardiac arrest Sunday morning. He did not regain consciousness.

“We greatly appreciate the efforts of the first responders and the staff at the Victorian Heart Hospital.

“The Rendell family would like to express gratitude towards everyone who has been supportive at this time.”

The AFL world was fast to react to the tragic loss of life.
