AFL star Nathan Buckley has revealed how his separation from spouse Tania Minnici of 18 years, was one of the crucial “traumatic” issues to occur to him.
In an interview with News Corp, the 51-year-old opened up on his marriage breakdown, the way it has affected him because the 2020 break up and why the footy world noticed a special facet to him from the man they knew within the 90s.
“I’ve learnt things about myself in the last five years that I didn’t know,” the Collingwood nice mentioned.
“I’ve unpacked a lot.”
“The most traumatic thing that’s happened to me recently was my marriage breaking down,” he defined.
“The two most important things to me were family and footy. When the family element started breaking down, my immediate family, I lent on football even more.”
Buckley mentioned he was grateful to his AFL mates for serving to him throughout a tough time.
The former couple tied the knot in December 2002, and introduced their separation in December 2020, nearly 18 years to the day.
The pair share two teenage boys, Jett, 17, and Ayce, 15.
He additionally shared how he’s nonetheless struggling to let go of the previous, battling with “a lot of emotion”, “a bit of anger” and nonetheless “mourning.”
“Tania was a big part of helping me through my life, and hopefully I did that for her as well,” he mentioned.
