Adelaide veteran Rory Sloane needs to play on subsequent season and assist his younger teammates attain a breakthrough finals marketing campaign.
Former skipper Sloane will notch his 250th sport when the Crows host GWS at Adelaide Oval on Saturday evening.
After finishing a profitable return from a ruptured ACL this 12 months, the 33-year-old does not have a deal but for 2024 however is eager to achieve a sixteenth season.
“I haven’t really had those discussions yet. I’m well and truly aware of my age and how this sort of unfolds from when you get to this point,” Sloane instructed reporters on Wednesday.
“That’s a discussion I’ll pick up shortly with the club.
“Absolutely (I’m eager to play on). I like soccer, I like taking part in for this membership, I simply love what I do.
“I’ll continue to play until they boot me out of here and say ‘we don’t want you inside our four walls’.”
Sloane has relished his return from damage, averaging 19.8 disposals and 5 tackles.
“I kept it simple, I suppose. Having that knee op certainly gave me some time to reflect on footy,’ he said.
“The entire purpose was simply to maintain it easy, come again and revel in footy, it doesn’t matter what occurred.”
Adelaide remain firmly in the finals mix, spearheaded by Sloane’s close friend Taylor Walker who has booted 48 goals.
The pair hope to get the Crows, who sit ninth and two points outside the eight, back into September action for the first time since their 2017 grand final loss.
“We definitely love the place we’re at in the intervening time,” Sloane mentioned.
“The footy the group’s taking part in, the place we wish to get to, and we definitely wish to assist these boys get again into some finals and contend for some finals through the years.
“Because when Tex and I look back across our 15, 16-year career, it’s certainly those moments in finals that you reflect on and you love.
“I need these children Jake Soligo, Rach (Josh Rachele), Izak (Rankine), all these children to play some finals as effectively.”
