Wieambilla property could be turned into ‘permanent memorial’ for slain police officers

Queensland Police Union CEO Ian Leavers says he doesn’t need the Wieambilla property utilized in final week’s lethal capturing within the palms of conspiracy theorists who might “use it for evil”.

The Queensland Police Union is in talks with the Palaszczuk authorities to purchase the block of land in Wieambilla.

Mr Leavers mentioned he desires to see the property changed into a “permanent memorial” for murdered law enforcement officials Matthew Arnold and Rachel McCrow.

“Whether it’s used as a police retreat or as a training centre, but it can be a memorial forever in a day and we can honour that sacred site where Matthew and Rachel paid the ultimate sacrifice,” he informed Sky News Australia.

“I’m just really concerned with these evil people within the community, that they don’t get their hands on this and use it to promote their radical views which are just un-Australian.”
