Students in NSW public faculties and most non-public faculties are usually not set to return to highschool till Wednesday, with tomorrow designated as a pupil free day.
However, college zones shall be enforced from tomorrow, with drivers breaking the principles attracting ANZAC Day double demerit factors.
Sally Webb, Deputy Secretary of Safety, Environment and Regulation at Transport for NSW mentioned college zones shall be again in operation from Monday because it was an formally notified college day.
“We are advising motorists that school zones are back in operation from Monday which is the official start of Term 2 in NSW,” Webb mentioned.
“The regulations mean school zones operate in NSW on all notified school days, including development days which are student-free days for most schools because some students may still attend their schools.
“Double demerits shall be in place from 12.01am Friday, April 21 to 11.59pm on Tuesday, April 25 for all dashing, seatbelt and cell phone offences.”
Figures released by the NRMA earlier this year showed many drivers were getting caught out by school zones operating on pupil free days.
The number of fines issued over two pupil free days in January 2022 was 3100, or a daily average of 1552.
This was triple the daily average of an ordinary school day a month later in February.

“Clearly individuals nonetheless are usually not getting the message that faculty zones function on all gazetted college days, even on student-free days like at this time,” NRMA spokesperson Peter Khoury mentioned on the time.
