Philippine journalism big Amando Doronila has handed away on the age of 95, his daughter mentioned.
In a message to reporters on Sunday, Maria Lourdes Doronila confirmed that the veteran newsman died of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) on Friday, July 7, at 9:45 p.m.
“We are all thankful for his love, his passion for life, his commitment to public service and his unrelenting integrity in navigating the truth,” she mentioned. “We honour him for his immense contribution to our lives and to others.”
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Manny Mogato additionally paid tribute to his former editor. “I was awed by his sharp and incisive political analysis, following his daily columns and wondering if I could be as good as him someday. I did not measure up to his analytical prowess and flawless prose. He was truly a class as a journalist,” he penned in a Facebook put up.
