Two firefighting pilots have miraculously walked away with solely minor accidents after surviving Australia‘s first Boeing 737 crash.
The giant water bomber was battling blazes within the Fitzgerald River National Park in Western Australia‘s south-west when it got here down in dense terrain on Monday afternoon.

A smaller firefighter plane close by managed to dump water and retardant on the flames beneath.

Emergency Services Minister Stephen Dawson mentioned it’s “nothing short of miraculous” that the pilots have been in a position to stroll away from the airplane.

“We’re very grateful that they are healthy and well,” Dawson mentioned.

“It is a truly remarkable outcome and it’s probably testaments to their skill as pilots.”

The Australian Transport and Safety Bureau (ATSB) will examine.

Chief Commissioner Angus Mitchell mentioned it was “remarkable” these concerned survived.

“We are very fortunate to be standing here and not mourning the deaths of some firefighters,” Mitchell mentioned.

He mentioned he hoped to have investigators on the web site on Wednesday.
