‘Thought I was dreaming’: Gold Coast teen recalls violent home invasion
A teen who was stabbed throughout a house invasion on the Gold Coast says he and his father are shaken however nearer than ever.

The 15-year-old boy was hospitalised with a stab wound to the torso after a person allegedly broke into the Gold Coast unit in Varsity Lakes about 1am on Tuesday armed with a golf membership and knife.

The boy vividly remembers being face-to-face with the intruder.

“I thought I was dreaming so I was like, ‘Hello hello, who are you?'” the boy informed 9News.

“He held a golf club above his head and just ran at me and started whacking me and I was just like ‘Dad, Dad, Dad.'”

The scuffle woke the entire residence and the alleged offender smashed glass and tried to stab the boy in his personal bed room.

“I didn’t feel any stabs or cuts or bruises or anything,” the boy mentioned.

“My main focus was survival and fighting him.”

His father was fast to hurry to the boy’s facet and the pair fought off the intruder and managed to carry him down earlier than assist arrived.

He mentioned he was extremely happy with his son for enduring the incident.

“He really stepped up, there was fight or flight instinct – you can run or you can fight and he fought,” the boy’s father mentioned.

“It made us a lot closer too, you know, the fact him and I can fight this bloke off.”

The man accused of the assault, Troy Andrew Burns, stays in custody after being charged with wounding, getting into a dwelling and possession of implements that had been utilized in relation to specific offences.

The 52-year-old’s case was adjourned once more in the present day.
