Teen jailed after plunging blade into ‘defenceless’ Melbourne schoolboy’s chest in 10-on-one attack

A youngster who introduced a knife to a gang struggle after which fatally stabbed a 15-year-old within the chest has been jailed for 2 years.

Following days of fights between two youth gangs, on June 16, 2020, Solomone was dragged to the bottom and hit with a baseball bat.

He died after one of many boys, aged 15 on the time, stabbed him via the left aspect of his chest, piercing his coronary heart.

Solomone was left to die on the bottom, because the group of boys fled from the scene after the stabbing.

The younger man who inflicted the deadly wound, who can’t be named, is now aged 18 and confronted the Supreme Court on Friday the place he was jailed after pleading responsible to manslaughter.

Supported by his mother and father, the teenager was expressionless as Justice Amanda Fox jailed him for 2 years in a youth justice centre.

“You are the one who brandished the knife and you are responsible for the death of Solomone,” she mentioned.

“There were 10 of you and one of him.

“Several of you had weapons and Solomone was defenceless when your group attacked him in a public place.”

Fox found the teen had good rehabilitation prospects as his family had relocated him to Queensland to be away from the negative influence of youth gangs.

However, she wanted to send a message to young people as she said it was becoming “more and more frequent” for them to bring knives to a fight.

“Teenagers are bringing knives to fights with the tragic end result that younger persons are being killed,” she said.

“Brandishing a knife in the middle of a bunch assault towards a lone focused sufferer makes the act harmful and extra severe.”

The teen has already spent greater than seven months in custody, which will likely be counted as time served.
