Former Speaker of the House Bronwyn Bishop says the tax workplace refused in 1972 to permit tax deductibility for childcare companies which is “vital” for girls and households.
“We are in the situation where the tax office refused to say childcare expenses could be a tax deduction in 1972 because it didn’t meet the necessary criterion,” Ms Bishop instructed Sky News host Amanda Stoker.
“You can deduct union fees, you can deduct computers, software, you can deduct seminars – a whole list of things but not childcare which is vital for women.”
