Heavy fog has shut down Sydney‘s ferry companies because the harbour metropolis wakes to a thick fog blanket protecting the skyline.

The majority of ferry companies have been terminated each arriving and departing from Circular Quay since about 7am.

Sydney Ferries is urging passengers to “make alternative arrangements or allow plenty of extra travel time”.

It comes as Sydney recorded its first rainless fortnight in two years.

The metropolis has been rain free since May 20 and can possible stay that manner till Sunday.

”There were spatters of rain on Thursday in some suburbs but nothing that was heavy enough to register at the Observatory Hill weather station where official records for Sydney are kept,” Weatherzone stated.
