A Sydney father has gained all the $100 million Powerball lottery jackpot tonight.
The Bankstown man who gained erupted into hysterical laughter and slapped his face to make sure he wasn’t dreaming, officers from the Lott mentioned.
“Are you sure? Have you got the right person?” he mentioned.
“This is unbelievable – I’ve won $100 million? Am I dreaming? I’m a millionaire now.
“Can you say this yet another time?”
The man told lottery officials he was dizzy and couldn’t speak.
“I’ve slapped my face twice.
“I’m with my wife right now. She’s in shock.
“We’re going to wrestle to sleep tonight.”
The man said he would continue to work but looked to buy a new house to “set ourselves up for the longer term”.
“But I have to course of this a bit extra. Maybe I will not [work] sooner or later,” he said.
“Working? We’re multi-millionaires now,” his wife added.
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1414 were 22, 3, 5, 23, 4, 14 and 6. The Powerball number was 17.
The man, who bought his winning QuickPick online, had missed the first call from officials wanting to tell him of his windfall.
The Lott said only one other person from western Sydney had won more in a previous draw, a Sydney nurse who claimed $107 million in January 2019.
Of the 22 Powerball division one winning entries last year, 13 were in NSW, four in Victoria, two each in Queensland and Western Australia, and one in South Australia.
