‘Significant number’ of people descended to Alice Springs over Christmas period

Northern Territory Police Commissioner Jamie Chalker says a “significant number” of individuals descended to Alice Springs over the Christmas interval, ensuing within the present alcohol disaster.

“We did, unfortunately, see a rise of activity in November, which prompted calls to send 45 additional police down to Alice Springs in that eight-week period,” he instructed Sky News Australia.

“We still have people turning up each and every day in high numbers to consume alcohol on premises.”
