The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition assailing the proposed amendments to the by-laws of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) and provisions of the IBP’s 2023 election tips.
In a press release, the SC stated it denied the petition for lack of advantage throughout En Banc deliberations.
According to the Court, Atty. Peter Paul Maglalang and others filed a petition for prohibition in search of to declare unlawful, unjust, and discriminatory the proposed amendments to Sections 39 and 47 of the IBP By-laws and Article III of the Guidelines for the 2023 Elections for Governors in March.
The petitioners claimed that proposed amendments allegedly encroached upon the Supreme Court’s unique authority and jurisdiction.
The Court stated the petitioners are incumbent and previous officers of IBP chapters. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
