Vice President Sara Duterte in her message for Eid’l Fitr requested for prayers for “concord, unity, and success for each.”
“As we celebrate with our family, friends, and communities, let our hearts be filled with joy knowing that love, kindness, respect, faithfulness, and peace reign supreme in our hearts and in our lives,” Duterte said in a statement.
“Let us continue to pray for harmony, unity, and success for each one as we strive to grow deeper in our faith and service to others,” she said.
Grand Mufti of the Bangsamoro Abuhuraira Udasan announced on Thursday night that the celebration of Eid’l Fitr (end of the month of Ramadan) will be on Saturday, April 22 after the traditional moon-sighting activity was performed.
One of the most important occasions in Islam, and known as the festival of the breaking of the fast, Eid’l Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Duterte hoped that the words and actions of everyone speak only of the “good and may our character reflect the ideals that Allah wants us to live out each day.”
“I hope we put into practice the learning and insights we gained from introspection and pray for continued guidance as we strengthen our connection with Allah. I pray that our thoughts are filled with peace and joy even as we sympathize with our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world who might need help and deliverance from trials and sufferings,” Duterte said.
“As we ponder on our challenges, let us thank Allah for the strength that allowed us to persist and overcome difficulties. May the experience of overcoming our personal challenges encourage us to be kind and compassionate to the plight of others,” she added.
“Let us be grateful for the blessings we have received and strive to be a blessing to our family, friends, and community,” Duterte said.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has declared April 21, 2023, as a regular holiday in observance of the Eid al-Fitr or the Feast of Ramadhan.
Marcos said that it is necessary to declare April 21 as a regular holiday to “carry the spiritual and cultural significance of the Eid al-Fitr to the fore of nationwide consciousness.” —NB, GMA Integrated News
