Runaway boat recovered off NSW coast
An unmanned runaway boat believed to be lacking since two males had been injured after the vessel ran over them has been recovered off the New South Wales coast.

Marine Rescue NSW mentioned in the present day a volunteer crew retrieved the vessel after it was discovered by a fisherman 4 nautical miles east of Manning Point on the Mid North Coast yesterday morning.

Inspector Rodney Page mentioned Marine Rescue NSW volunteers had been on alert for the runaway boat after quite a few sightings.

The fisherman tied a line to the distressed vessel and stayed with it till the crew arrived after which towed the vessel again to shore.

He mentioned it had sustained main injury.

“Retrieving this vessel is a great outcome, it not only removes a navigational hazard but the owner will have it returned,” Page mentioned.

“Vessels usually left to drift are never seen again.”

The seek for the runaway boat began on August 1 when it took off unmanned within the surf zone at Queens Head, north of Port Macquarie.

The two males had been thrown overboard and injured after the vessel ran over them.
