Robin Padilla urges public to vote for candidates backing Cha-cha

Senator Robinhood “Robin” Padilla on Friday known as on the general public to vote for candidates that can push for the modification of the 1987 Constitution by establishing a federal system of presidency.

Padilla made the assertion a day after President Ferdinand ”Bongbong” Marcos Jr. stated that the administration has taken step one towards federalism by distributing energy to the native authorities items.

“I hope that in 2025 [midterm polls], Filipinos [will] intend to vote for candidates who may not be famous but believe that the form of government must change. We need only one House in Congress to cut costs, pass laws more quickly, and allow the entry of foreign investors,” stated Padilla, chairperson of the Senate committee on constitutional amendments and revision of codes. 

Padilla stated he wants allies to push for presidency reforms comparable to federalism. 

“I have long pursued federalism, so the President’s statement is a big inspiration for me. I am prepared to do what it takes to achieve this,” he added. 

In February, Padilla filed Resolution of Both Houses 3 looking for to amend the financial provisions of the 1987 Constitution via a constituent meeting (Con-Ass). 

The proposed amendments embody:

  • The State could undertake exploration, growth, and utilization of pure assets or could enter into co-production, three way partnership, or production-sharing agreements with Filipino residents or firms no less than 60% of whose capital is owned by such residents, until offered by regulation.
  • maintain alienable lands of the general public area besides by lease for at most 25 years, renewable for no more than 25 years, and to not exceed 1,000 hectares, until in any other case offered by regulation.
  • Congress could, by regulation, solely for the aim of overseas direct funding, permit aliens to accumulate personal lands not exceeding 1,000 sq. meters in space and foreign-owned firms to accumulate rural personal lands not exceeding 5 hectares in space.
