An occasion has to file a grievance if perjury fees shall be pursued in opposition to former Bureau of Corrections officer in cost Rafael Ragos who recanted his allegations in opposition to Senator Leila De Lima, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated on Monday.
Asked if the Department of Justice would file a perjury rap in opposition to Ragos in reference to his retraction, Remulla stated, “There has to be an interested party for us to file it.”
“We will ask the prosecutors involved if they want to file a case. We are not encouraging anything,” Remulla stated.
Branch 204 of the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court on Friday acquitted De Lima and former safety aide Ronnie Dayan of an unlawful drug buying and selling cost.
In a 39-page choice, the court docket stated that Ragos’ recantation forged cheap doubt on De Lima and Dayan’s involvement although the prosecution established the existence of rampant unlawful drug buying and selling on the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
Ragos had claimed that he and aide Jovencio Ablen Jr. delivered P5 million in proceeds from the unlawful drug commerce contained in the NBP to De Lima’s home in Parañaque City in 2012.
In May 2022, Ragos retracted his testimony in opposition to De Lima. —NB, GMA Integrated News
