The alleged incident involving the Ringwood MP is believed to have occurred at a resort in Melbourne CBD.
Police have stated they’ve launched a proper investigation after “being notified of the matter by the state government”.
“Given the sensitive nature of this incident and now that it is subject to active investigation, we will not be providing any further commentary on the matter,” a police spokesperson stated.
He denied any wrongdoing, saying by way of written assertion that he was “shocked and distressed” to study that an allegation of assault had been made.
“The details of the claim have not been put to me. I strenuously deny any allegation of assault,” Fowles stated.
“It is not true. There was no assault.”
Premier Daniel Andrews stated earlier this month that he was suggested of the “alleged incident” on August 3.
9News understands Sexual Crime Squad investigators have spoken to the girl on the centre of the allegation.
