The Philippine National Police on Monday stated it’s planning to have joint maritime operations with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Philippine Navy (PN) to safe Philippine waters from unlawful actions.

In an ambush interview, PNP chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. stated they need to signal a memorandum of understanding for the conduct of the joint maritime safety operations.

“We wanted to have a memorandum of understanding na magsanib pwersa kami para sa pagse-secure natin sa mga karagatan natin (to join forces so we can secure our waters),” he stated.

Azurin added these operations would tackle contrabands and human trafficking of individuals within the nation.

For Azurin, the joint operations of the PNP, PCG, and PN would maximize the presence of regulation enforcement within the territorial waters contemplating their restricted variety of belongings.

He added the PNP could be designated in areas close to the shoreline and bounds. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
