One woman dead, man arrested after siege

A lady is useless and one other is in a severe situation with gunshot wounds after an hours-long siege in Adelaide that ended with a person’s arrest.

Police stated they have been known as to a home on Elm Rd in Campbelltown, in Adelaide’s east, about 1.30pm on Saturday after neighbours reported listening to gunshots.

When police arrived they noticed two girls collapsed with gunshot wounds within the driveway of the property. One of the ladies was pronounced useless on the scene, whereas the opposite lady, 22, was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital the place she is reported to be in a secure situation.

Police stated the alleged shooter, a 51-year-old man, holed himself up inside the home, sparking a prolonged siege as officers surrounded the property.

Surrounding streets have been shut down and close by residents have been evacuated or requested to remain indoors as police tried to barter with the person.

The man left the home about 5.10pm, police stated. He surrendered to officers and was taken into custody on the City Watch House, the place he was anticipated to be charged on Saturday evening.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Graham Goodwin from SA Police stated the person was identified to police and associated to the 2 girls.

A criminal offense scene has been arrange on the home, the place police say they’ve discovered firearms.

“It’s serious offending, serious firearms offending and any time firearms are involved, these are very serious matters,” Mr Goodwin stated, the ABC reviews.

“This investigation is only in its very early stages. There is still a lot more detail to come.”
