NSW Premier Chris Minns backs public holiday for Matildas
New South Wales Premier Chris Minns will again a public vacation if the Matildas with the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

And talking on 2DayFM yesterday, he was requested if a public vacation was within the offing if the squad even made it to the grand last.

“We’d love to back the Matildas with a public holiday,” he stated, in an announcement learn on-air by host Ben Fordham.

“We’d work with the other states and the Commonwealth to get the right date.

“It’s going to be raised at National Cabinet subsequent week. In the meantime, we’ll get behind the Matildas for the following two video games.”

The date for the grand final is a Sunday, so it’s not known what the public holiday would be.

But there is some opposition to the notion.

Vaucluse MP and NSW shadow environment minister Kelly Sloane said it would be an unfair burden on business owners.

“It’s populist politics, and it is damaging to the economic system,” she said.

She said she would be supporting the Matildas regardless.

“I can have a good time and nonetheless go to work the following day,” she stated.
