NSW bike track spiked with hundreds of nails, thumb tacks and screws

Hundreds of tacks, nails and screws have been left strewn alongside a motorcycle path at Murwillumbah in northern New South Wales, sparking a police investigation.

Community members and police have recovered lots of of such objects since they have been first discovered earlier this month.

They’re believed to have been intentionally positioned on the observe.

NSW Police Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Kehoe mentioned these accountable might have underestimated the intense nature of the offence.

“We’ve had several reports of people injured, or children who have needed to push their bikes a number of kilometres, due to flat tyres caused by tacks scattered over the track,” Kehoe mentioned.

He mentioned it was “dangerous and disgraceful behaviour”.
