The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has issued an advisory stating that there is no such thing as a tsunami menace within the nation following the robust earthquake that hit the Vanuatu area.

“No destructive tsunami threat exists based on available data. This is for information purposes only and there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake,” the company introduced.

An earthquake of 6.8 magnitude struck west of Luganville, Vanuatu area on Friday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) mentioned.

The quake struck 95 km (59.03 miles) west of Luganville and 33 km under the earth’s floor, USGS added. — Reuters with BAP, GMA Integrated News
