Negative COVID tests for travellers from China not an ‘onerous requirement’

Travellers from China acquiring a destructive COVID-19 check earlier than departing for Australia isn’t an “especially onerous requirement,” Treasurer Jim Chalmers says.

The federal authorities not too long ago imposed the pre-departure testing requirement for individuals travelling to Australia from the People’s Republic of China together with the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau.

“We’ve taken this decision as a government from an abundance of caution,” Mr Chalmers advised Sky News Australia.
