Nearly 200 aged care residents forced to find new places as Sydney homes close
Three aged care properties in Sydney are set to shut as a supplier fails to seek out and maintain workers.

Wesley Mission is closing its three remaining aged care properties in Sylvania, Carlingford and Narrabeen by the tip of subsequent month.

Nearly 200 residents can be impacted.

CEO Reverand Stu Cameron stated the problem of discovering staff and the federal government implementing workers ratio necessities has compelled the closures.

The federal authorities is reforming aged care by hiring registered nurses to work in properties 24 hours a day, seven days every week by July 1.

Providers have reported discovering issue in recruiting workers to fulfill the requirement.

“The Aged Care sector is experiencing challenges to workforce and flow-on impacts from the national reforms to Aged Care. Wesley Mission supports these once-in-a-generation reforms, improving quality for all care users,” Cameron stated.

“It is, however, a challenging environment to be a smaller provider.

“With simply three aged care places, our providing on this space is small in comparison with the massive and numerous vary of group companies we offer round NSW and throughout Australia.”

Aged care coordinator and placement provider MyCarePath will help residents in the three Sydney homes find alternative places to live.

“At this stage, we anticipate closing our centres on the finish of May 2023, and earlier than then, we can be doing all we will to help residents in selecting a brand new residence that meets their wants,” Cameron said.

Cameron said the company will also help staff at the three homes find a new role or a job at a different provider.

Wesley Mission closed the Tebbutt home in Sydney’s north-west last year as it couldn’t provide the necessary building updates.
