Multiple people, including children, missing as large fire engulfs homes in Queensland
Five youngsters and one grownup are lacking after a big fireplace engulfed a number of houses on Russell Island, in Brisbane’s south-east this morning.

Police are investigating the reason for the fireplace, which broke out at a house on Todman Street at about 6am, sending plumes of thick smoke billowing into the sky.

Nine folks had been handled on the scene by paramedics and two folks have been taken to Redlands Hospital in a secure situation.

At least one home was completely destroyed by the fire.

Firefighters stay on the scene and are working to suppress the fireplace at one of many properties, a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson informed 9news.com.au.

One of the constructions has been extinguished, one has utterly collapsed and one remains to be alight, the spokesperson stated. 

“Three houses were fully engulfed in fire with one house destroyed.”

“It’s a developing situation.”

Police have established a criminal offense scene because the search continues for these lacking.

“Initial investigations indicate six people are unaccounted for, including five children and a man, who are residents at the property,” police stated in an announcement.

Investigations are underway to find out the reason for the fireplace and police have appealed to anybody with data or related imaginative and prescient to come back ahead.
