Marcos leads rollout of internet for students, teachers in remote areas

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. led the rollout of the web for college students and academics in distant areas on Saturday as a part of his administration’s Broadband ng Masa Program (BBMP).

The Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) mentioned this system goals to offer web connectivity in geographically remoted and deprived areas (GIDAs) throughout the nation.

Marcos talked to the scholars and academics from the completely different areas of the nation, together with Pag-asa Island within the West Philippine Sea, via an “Online Kumustahan” organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

The President vowed to cowl all areas of the nation below this system, particularly those that don’t have any entry to cell mobile companies.

“Yung mga malalayo, ‘yan ang mas kailangan. Lalo na ‘yung mga bata, para sa kanilang eskwela. Buti na lang, maraming bagong teknolohiya na pwedeng gamitin, na we’re taking full advantage of,” he said.

Government services will “significantly improve” through the use of digital technologies, he added.

“Para naman kahit saan sa Pilipinas, makakaramdam tayo ng connectivity. At napakaimportante na ngayon niyan,” he said.

DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy said the administration’s program goals to construct a “direct connection” between geographically remoted and deprived areas and the federal government.

The DICT mentioned the federal government’s Free Wi-Fi for All program established an extra 628 operational free Wi-Fi websites—on high of the 4,129 current websites – bringing the entire dwell websites to 4,757 areas nationwide.

It added that the federal government service has been accessed by at the least 2.1 million customers, which interprets to 100,000 households being supplied with connectivity throughout the nation. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
