Speaker Martin Romualdez bowed and positioned Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s hand on his brow in an act of respect on the House plenary earlier than presiding over the oath-taking of Arroyo’s alternative as senior deputy speaker.
The new prime deputy, Pampanga Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales, additionally did the “pagmamano” on his province mate and drew applause from the House members on the ground.
Arroyo then joined Romualdez and Gonzales on the House rostrum because the Speaker administered the oath.
The alternate of gestures of courtesy occurred days after the House voted to exchange Arroyo as senior deputy speaker with Gonzales. Arroyo remained as deputy speaker.
