The man, 61, was discovered by Hervey Bay Water Police clinging to a small boat that had overturned and submerged in waters off Tin Can Bay yesterday afternoon.
Reports of a sinking vessel reached police simply earlier than 4pm.
Police officers and a Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol Officer pulled the person from the water and transferred him to the Snapper Creek Boat Ramp.
He was handled for hypothermia and was taken to Gympie Hospital with non-life-threatening accidents.
