A person is in hospital after he was rescued from his burning residence in Sydney’s internal west.
Emergency providers have been referred to as to the fireplace in Balmain East at about 3.30am.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze shortly after 5am.
The space is now a criminal offense scene.
Fire investigators will decide if a police investigation is required.
