Man, 30, charged with ‘unprovoked’ murder of woman, 22, in Perth street

A younger girl has been killed in what police say was an “unprovoked” assault in Perth.

Melanie Kizenga, 22, was strolling with a member of the family when she was allegedly stabbed.

A person, aged 30, has been charged with homicide.

Security imaginative and prescient reveals Kizenga and her cousin strolling alongside Walderton Avenue in Balga, in Perth’s north, round 8pm final evening.

Just 100 metres down the road, outdoors Balga Primary School, she was allegedly stabbed by a person.

Residents rushed to her aspect, making an attempt to avoid wasting her life. A pair of socks was used to stem the bleeding.

Witnesses say she was with one other girl who was “crying and screaming,” as locals rushed to attempt to save her life.

“She was very bad, they were working on her and that, and her friend was screaming and crying and everything, it was very horrible to see,” one witness, Lisa, stated.

Paramedics rushed her to Royal Perth Hospital, the place she died.

Members of the general public additionally chased down the alleged attacker, apprehending him earlier than police swooped.

Another witness, Jody, stated they made the person drop the knife.

“With a baseball bat they knocked it out of his hand cause they were quite fearful as well,” she stated.

Today, West Australian Police known as the assault “violent and completely unprovoked.”

“We don’t have a motive for that at this time,” Detective Sergeant Katharine Venn stated.

“We believe the other woman and the suspect may be known to each other.
