Domestic flights of native carriers have been efficiently moved to the Terminal 2 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) over the weekend, according to the federal government’s Schedule and Terminal Assignment Rationalization (STAR) Program.
In an advisory launched Sunday, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) mentioned all home flights of AirAsia Philippines had been efficiently moved to Terminal 2 as of July 1, Saturday, whereas its worldwide flights proceed to function from Terminal 3.
Domestic boutique constitution airline Sunlight Air on Saturday additionally moved to NAIA Terminal 4, which has been designated as a devoted turbo-prop airport terminal.
The modifications are according to the MIAA’s STAR Program, which goals to decongest NAIA Terminal 4, the oldest facility of the nation’s important gateway.
This comes amid talks of privatizing NAIA, after a consortium of six Filipino conglomerates and US-based Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) fashioned the Manila International Airport Consortium (MIAC) to submit an unsolicited proposal to improve the NAIA by means of a public-private partnership (PPP).
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) can be planning a solicited PPP, with the bidding for the mission focused by September, and to start out by the primary quarter of 2024. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
