The Labor authorities’s purpose of transitioning to 82 per cent of power in Australia coming from renewables is a “long way off”, based on Grattan Institute Energy and Climate Change Director Tony Wood.
“I think we’ll be lucky to break 70 per cent, we’re about 35 per cent now – renewables, that’s come up a long way from what it used to be, 82 per cent looks a long way off now,” he instructed Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“Is it technically achievable? Maybe, but we’d have to get … our skates on really quickly because we haven’t been building what’s necessary to meet that sort of target.”
