Labor teams over the weekend expressed their opposition to the National Government Rightsizing Bill, which goals to restructure authorities companies beneath the Executive division, arguing that this might result in the discharge of rank-and-file staff.
In a Sunday assertion, the Federation of Free Workers (FFW), the Public Sector Labor Independent Confederation (PSLINK), the Confederation of Independent Union within the Public Sector (CIU-SENTRO), and different NAGKAISA Labor Coalition associates as an alternative known as for measures that protected the rights of presidency employees.

“We call on the government to ensure workers’ representation as it is crucial that the voices and concerns of the workers are heard and addressed throughout the process as the same is guaranteed by the Constitution,” United Workers of Duty Free Philippines-FFW Chairperson Romeo Silva added.
The labor groups noted that the proposed measure would have “adverse effects” on rank-and-file authorities employees, who’ve already been hit by earlier reorganization efforts within the authorities.
“These efforts resulted in the emaciation of rank-and-file workers, a bloated top, institutionalization of contractualization schemes, and the privatization of public services,” they mentioned.
The House of Representatives final week authorised on second studying House Bill 7240, which covers companies beneath the Executive division, excluding academics and people in medical-related posts, navy and uniformed personnel, and positions within the government-owned and managed firms (GOCCs) and authorities monetary establishments that are already beneath the jurisdiction of the Governance Commission for GOCCs.
