Chinese tariffs on wine have introduced the Australian business to its knees, with hope now brewing for South Australian growers as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is about to go to China this week.
Some worry re-entering the market is not going to be a straightforward process.
The wine taxes had been launched after a diplomatic dispute in 2020.
Before the tariffs had been put in place – the export of Australian wine to China was valued at over $1 billion.
Today annual exports are beneath ten million {dollars}.
