Australia’s former ambassador to Israel Dave Sharma says he’s “concerned” about how the Albanese authorities granting momentary visas to 860 Palestinians was introduced as Hamas fighters are “disappearing” into the civilian inhabitants.
The Department of Home Affairs revealed the visas had been accredited for Palestinians with connections to Australia between October 7 and November 20.
While over 800 have been granted, solely a small variety of these with accredited Australian visas have made it out of Gaza.
“I haven’t seen a statement from the Immigration Minister; I haven’t seen a statement from the Home Affairs Minister,” Mr Sharma advised Sky News Australia host Sharri Markson.
“It’s not clear what sort of visas these people have been granted.
“What sort of security checks are these people going through?
“Hamas … is disappearing into the civilian population – they’ll be putting on civilian clothes, they’ll be putting down their weapons and those of them who are choosing to flee will be getting out.”
