Fisher missing in croc-infested waters after friend heard ‘splashing sound’
A Queensland man who vanished in crocodile-infested waters within the state’s far north has been recognized as 65-year-old Kevin Darmody.

Darmody, a fishing fanatic, was final seen at 3.30pm yesterday on the Kennedy River at Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park, about 340 kilometres north-west of Cairns.

A determined search operation is presently beneath approach however has thus far returned no hint.

9News understands Darmody, from Laura, was fishing with a buddy on the time of his disappearance.

His buddy reported his absence to authorities and described listening to a “splashing sound” on the time of the disappearance, in accordance with studies. 

Police, volunteers from the Queensland State Emergency Service and a Rescue 510 helicopter crew, led searches yesterday night and at first gentle this morning.

Department of Environment and Science wildlife officers had been helping with the search.
