EU chief von der Leyen arrives in the Philippines

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has arrived within the Philippines, EU Ambassador to the Philippines Luc Veron mentioned.

 

 

During her go to, formally from July 31 to August 1, von der Leyen is scheduled to fulfill with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. to focus on commerce, funding, and Global Gateway cooperation and the EU’s Global Gateway Strategy.

Marcos had invited her to go to the Philippines, the EU mentioned.

Von Der Leyen can even converse at a high-level business occasion organized by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) in partnership with the Makati Business Club (MBC).

The EU can be stretching its strategic engagement with the broader Indo-Pacific area.

“The EU launched its Indo-Pacific Strategy in 2021 to recommit the EU politically to the region to contribute to its stability, security, prosperity, and sustainable development, based on shared values and principles including a commitment to respecting democracy, human rights and the rule of law,” it mentioned in a press release. — BM, GMA Integrated News
