The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has ready shares of meals and non-food assets for distribution to households and communities to be affected by El Niño.
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian mentioned that whereas LGUs are the primary responders to any catastrophe and calamities inside their space, the company is prepared to do its half and be prepared for any climate disturbances that will happen through the dry season.
“The necessary truth right here is, bagama’t handa kami, kailangang mag-coordinate pa rin kami sa LGUs,” Gatchalian said.
State weather bureau PAGASA on Tuesday declared the start of the El Niño phenomenon in the Tropical Pacific and its effects are now expected in the Philippines.
PAGASA also said the current El Niño is “weak” however exhibits indicators of strengthening within the coming months.
