Driver who pulled out gun on cyclist in viral video surrenders

The automobile driver who pointed a gun at a bicycle owner surrendered to authorities, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III introduced Sunday.

The QCPD head was referring to the motorist who apparently cursed at, harm, and pointed a gun at a bicycle owner, after the latter hit the driving force’s purple automobile along with his bicycle.

“Sa loob ng… half-hour ay nakuha natin ‘yung tao, napa-surrender natin. Sa ngayon ay iniimbestigahan natin, nandoon sa anti-carnapping unit dahil kailangan i-verify ang plate number,” Torre said in a Super Radyo dzBB interview.

(Within 30 minutes we got the person, and he surrendered. Right now we are investigating and he is at the anti-carnapping unit because his plate number needs to be verified.)

The QCPD earlier called on the driver to surrender to the nearest police station after the video of the August 8 incident went viral on social media.

Torre said that the driver also surrendered his gun and car which were taken into custody by the authorities.

“Sigurado tayo dito na ma-revoke natin ang kanyang LTOPF (License To Own and Possess Firearm). Bahala na ang ang HPG (Highway Patrol Group) kung i-reinstate uit ang kanyang LTOPF,” he added.

(We’re certain that his LTOPF will likely be revoked. It is as much as the HPG if his LTOPF will likely be reinstated.)

Should the bicycle owner file a grievance, the driving force might face circumstances associated to mild or grave threats and firearm possession, Torre mentioned. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
