Child taken to hospital, driver fined after truck collides with heritage train in South Australia
A truck driver has been fined after allegedly failing to offer approach to a heritage prepare on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula.
The heritage Cockle Train prepare collided with a truck at a degree crossing south of Adelaide close to Petersen Road at Middleton about 10.20am.

The prepare was carrying 15 passengers on the time and was partially derailed on impression, the Country Fire Service stated.

The truck, which was transporting soil, overturned after the collision, inflicting a mix of diesel gas and hydraulic fluid to leak out onto the street.

Some passengers together with a baby have been taken to the native South Coast District Hospital for therapy to minor accidents.

A volunteer on the SteamRanger Heritage Railway, which runs the Cockle Train, stated he was shocked somebody did not get severely harm.

“We really had no chance but as we approached the crossing it all seemed clear, but this truck came out of nowhere and we’ve collided with it,” Kennelly stated.
