A six-year-old boy left at dwelling alone was compelled to smash a window earlier than he was rescued from a hearth that destroyed his dwelling.

NSW Fire and Rescue mentioned crews have been referred to as to a two-level townhouse hearth on Rodley Ave in Penrith simply after 6pm on Saturday.

A spokesperson mentioned a 6-year-old boy had been pulled from the house earlier than firefighters arrived on the scene.

NSW Police mentioned a pedestrian observed the fireplace and helped pull the boy out of the constructing after he had smashed a window making an attempt to flee.

The boy suffered a laceration to his foot and was taken to Nepean Hospital by paramedics for therapy.

Police mentioned that the kid was dwelling alone when the fireplace erupted and his mom had arrived dwelling a short while after his dramatic rescue.

Eight hearth vehicles together with 30 firefighters took “a couple of hours” to extinguish the blaze that engulfed the home in western Sydney.

Fire and Rescue Superintendent Adam Dewberry mentioned a lit candle was the suspected supply of the blaze, and warned others to not go away open flames unsupervised.

“It doesn’t take long for a fire to take hold in a home,” Superintendent Dewberry mentioned.

“If you are using a candle, it’s so simple for a fire to ignite and take hold.”

Police mentioned a child-at-risk notification will likely be submitted.
