Chalmers says essay not calling for return of ‘clapped-out ideological model’ from 1950s

Treasurer Jim Chalmers says his latest essay extolling the deserves of values-based capitalism shouldn’t be calling for the return of some “clapped-out” ideological mannequin from the Nineteen Fifties.

“My essay is a throw forward, not a throwback,” Mr Chalmers mentioned throughout a media convention on Sunday.

“In fact, the ideas in the essay are not especially controversial – they align well with the modern supply-side economics being pursued by my friend Janet Yellen in the United States.”
