CBCP releases ‘litany of gratitude’ amid COVID-19 pandemic recovery

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has changed the Oratio Imperata or compulsory prayer for cover amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an announcement, the CBCP stated the brand new prayer is named the “Litany of Gratitude after the COVID-19 Pandemic,” which needs to be prayed in weekdays and Sunday Masses from February 11 to 22, Ash Wednesday.

In January 2020, the CBCP issued the Oratio Imperata in opposition to the COVID-19 pandemic. In February 2021, it was revised to incorporate a plea for the effectiveness of the vaccines.

The new prayer was permitted on January 30 throughout the bishops’ plenary meeting, in keeping with CBCP Secretary General Monsignor Bernardo Pantin.

According to the CBCP, the Litany of Gratitude after the COVID-19 Pandemic reads:

Leader: Let us strategy the Lord, Who makes all issues new, for all of the blessings and graces we acquired throughout the Covid pandemic.

After each petition, allow us to say collectively: Thanks be to God.

For reminding us of the fragility of life, shielding us when nobody else dared to shelter us and opening our minds to what’s actually important, allow us to thank the Lord

Response: Thanks be to God.

For permitting us to attach with each other with religion and love, regardless of the isolation that illness had imposed on us, allow us to thank the Lord

Response: Thanks be to God.

For the heroic kindness of those that supplied us with scientific, social and religious assist when doing so was each dangerous and life threatening for them, allow us to thank the Lord

Response: Thanks be to God.

For the present of newly found medicines and vaccines to fight the virus and the surprise of pure immunity, allow us to thank the Lord

Response: Thanks be to God.

For the present of assuring presence, once we have been anxious and distressed, depressed and lonely and impatient throughout the pandemic, allow us to thank the Lord

Response: Thanks be to God.

Let us pray.

Loving God, no considered ours is unknown to you. No tear we shed is unimportant to you. No pleasure we rejoice is alien to you. You entered our world of illness, struggling and loss of life and you understand the fears we face. Accept our thanksgiving to your provident love throughout the Covid pandemic. As you wept on the loss of life of Lazarus, breathe the breath of life eternal on all those that died from the coronavirus. You have turned our fears into pleasure and for this we thank and reward You. To you be glory now and ceaselessly.
