The Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s name to permit pharmacists to prescribe treatment is a “business grab” versus a healthcare mannequin, says RACGP President Dr Nicole Higgins.
“If the Pharmacy Guild was really serious about improving access, then we should make bigger pacts of medications for patients and increase the length of supply,” Dr Higgins instructed Sky News Australia.
Dr Higgins stated the agricultural scarcity of GPs, pharmacists and nurses was a well being “industry-wide” downside.
“Borrowing from one sector to plug a hole in another doesn’t solve the problem – we need to look at the whole of funding of healthcare.”
